Aerial Support Joins the Wildfire Response

As wildfires burned across northeastern Minnesota and the Boundary Waters region, crews fought back from both the air and the ground.

Helicopters equipped with water buckets scooped from the region's lakes and made repeated drops along the fire lines, while firefighters on the ground worked to protect homes, roads, and power infrastructure.

The photos below were shared from the response effort. They show both the scale of the fires and the round-the-clock work of the crews protecting the communities and wilderness of canoe country.
